As part of plans for Lancashire CCC's Old Trafford cricket ground, fans could be able to live close to the stadium.

AECOM Design + Planning and property consultant DTZ have begun work on developing a masterplan and implementation strategy for hundreds of new homes in the Lancashire CCC quarter.

Commissioned by Trafford Council and the Homes and Communities Agency, the idea is improve the club's Old Trafford cricket ground so that it can continue to host test matches and other major fixtures, as well as creating new homes in the area.

The AECOM team will assess the opportunities for redevelopment in the area. The plan will also highlight the investment required to deliver the proposals.

Other plans include highway improvements and the possible creation of an academy from the merger of two local schools.
