CABE Space to appoint 60 'ambassadors'

Groups seeks parks managers for training courses to improve image of park keepers

CABE Space is looking for 60 parks managers to act as “urban green space ambassadors”. They will be put through a subsidised training course to help their skills in communicating the importance of parks to the community. The course aims to transform the image of park keepers as grumpy old men into people who can work with the media, funding bodies and colleagues to bring resources and political support into parks. CABE Space director Julia Thrift said: “This course will help parks managers develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s complex funding environment.” - Sixty places are available on courses at Peterborough’s Thorpe Hall. Courses cost £50. Telephone 020 7612 1843 to book.
