British strawberries for the palace Jubilee picnic

British strawberries will feature in 10,000 picnic hampers given to guests at the Jubilee picnic and concert at Buckingham Palace.

But although the event in is June, when the strawberry season is in full swing, the fruits were picked on the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk last year and frozen.

They will feature in a "Sandringham strawberry crumble crunch" on a menu devised by Heston Blumenthal and royal chef Mark Flanagan.
