"Business is growing and we have a shortage of trees," said Newey Group managing director Alex Newey. "Generally there is a shortage of good-quality trees in the market, full stop. In order for us to grow the business, bearing in mind it takes three years to grow a containerised tree, to grow our share in the market it's important for us to buy more nurseries."
The sale was completed on 31 July. Newey bought the stock, assets and goodwill. It will lease the site from Langmead Farms. The capacity is 50,000 trees.
Newey Group also comprises Eagle Plants, EverGreen Events, New Forest Plants, New Place Nurseries, Omni Solutions UK, Roundstone Nurseries, Transflora, Whitehill Seed Company and Young Plants.
