Bookings rise for garden centre managers exhibition Glee

Glee director Dan Thurlow says the 20-22 September Birmingham NEC show for garden centre managers is 20% ahead in its selling of floor space, with a 25% rise in core sectors including furniture, landscaping and garden sundries.

Booking of retail services and home and gift exhibitors is mar-ginally ahead, too, he added.

Glee is giving 10%t extra floor space to exhibitors who have rebooked this year, but Thurlow says many are taking additional space on top of that.

Nursery bookings, however, are not ahead of 2009, which Thurlow said he "half expected" because of the inaugural National Plant Show (29-30 June, at Stoneleigh).

National Plant Show and Garden Expo released their booking details last week, with 141 exhibitors between them, including around 80 for the National Plant Show.

Howeverm, Garden Expo organiser Clarion announced last week that it was pulling the show due to a "lack of industry support".
