The idea is that selected landscape architecture practices will join a list of tenderers to assist the local authority's in-house Landscape Practice Group.
As well as landscape consultancy, the firms will also be required to provide historical consultancy services where applicable and to manage projects from feasibility through to practical completion on site and final handover. The work is expected to be worth around £200,000.
The Landscape Practice Group is a registered practice of the Landscape Institute and has around 280 active projects. These range from large-value historic park restoration, public realm and highway improvements to more locally-led play, sport and recreational landscape projects.
The group is now working on a £9.6m refurbishment of Handsworth Park and a £6.5m historical refurbishment of Aston Park.
