BIGGA certificate for Colorado's Ironbridge Golf Club greenkeeper at Harrogate Week

A golf course superintendent from the Ironbridge Golf Club in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, US, collected his Master Greenkeepers Certificate from the British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) during Harrogate Week last week.

A certified Golf Course Superintendent from the Golf Course Superintendents Association, Eric Foerster undertook the Master Greenkeepers Certificate Programme through BIGGA after travelling to BTME Harrogate Week as part of the Bernhard & Co exchange trip in 2008.

"Much like my reasons for going after my CGCS, I wanted to measure myself againt the standards set forth for the Master Greenkeeper designation," explained Foerster as he picked up the award. "Obtaining my Master Greenkeeper Certificate has allowed me to connect to my profession on an international level, which holds great appeal for me."

The Master Greenkeepring Certificate is a prestigious industry award gained through experience as a greenkeeper, through formal and informal training, high-quality golf course management and a rigorous two-part examination. Foerster concluded: "The Bernhard exchange programme reignited my desire to obtain my Master Greenkeeper. It gave me an opportunity to attend the Master Greenkeeper workshop at the BTME and confirmed my desire to take my career and educational involvement to an international level."
