It has fought against issues that it perceives as undermining members' efficiency and returns, provided numerous forums and organised one of the industry's best technical conferences.
"We were the first to say that there should be a supermarket regulator and we instigated the rolling back (reining in) of farm assurance schemes, necessary because they had got out of control," said Breach.
"We've brought together for everyone's benefit marketers, bank managers and supermarket people who would not normally get together."
Associate membership comprises about half the 200 or so members. Grower members include a number who market part of their crops through producer organisations.
It is difficult to determine how many eligible growers are not members, "but we would very much like them to join us", added Breach.
