BDP landscape architecture director Andrew Tindsley told HW the firm has been working in India for around two and a half years already.
"We incorporated as an India-based company in April  and our new office will open in early 2010," he explained.
"We have got projects in Mumbai and Calcutta ongoing at the moment. We have got strong Indian connections."
The new office will comprise British and Dutch staff, as well as local professionals in urban design, landscape architecture and architecture.
Tindsley said there would be around 12 staff in the first year.
Work already being carried out by BDP in India includes masterplanning, retail and commercial developments.
