Visitors to the show were asked to vote for their favourite garden on the APL Avenue. The avenue contained five gardens created by APL-accredited designers.

They chose the Urban Nature garden, designed by Claudia de Yong, which also won a silver merit award. The garden was designed for a retired professional couple in their late 50s who have downsized from a country house to a terrace in Birmingham but still want to spend as much time as possible in the garden.

De Yong is known for creating romantic gardens and landscapes, with planting ranging from a traditional, formal approach to a natural style, whichever most suits the client's garden setting. Water in the garden is her speciality, with water features including garden ponds, lakes, streams and natural wildlife ponds.

The garden was built by The Gardenmakers, who offer a full garden design and landscaping service including paving, decking, timber structures, water features, fencing and walls.

All five of the gardens built on APL Avenue at BBC Gardeners' World Live have proven a success, with JM Landscapes taking Best Construction Award at the show and a gold award to back it up.
