Baylis landscape contractors from Gravesend in Kent have won an environmental-improvement contract in Chatham.
The project is a joint venture between MHS homes, Medway Council and London and Quadrant Housing Association.
It kicked off in August 2008 when residents on the Shipwrights estate were surveyed.
Groundwork Kent and Medway Council used the results of the survey to devise a plan for additional car parking, a ball court for teenagers, improved refuse and recycling facilities, play areas for younger children and improved landscaping.
Baylis landscape contractors were among six companies to tender for the work and won it with a bid of £135,209
Work started an site on 15 February and is expected to be completed by 14 May.
