Founder and former Hobbycraft chief executive Chris Crombie said: "We’re delighted to have the opportunity to open our first superstore at Bents, which is undoubtedly one of the best garden centres in the UK.

"As well as offering over 15,000 products for just about every craft you can imagine I am also pleased to be creating employment opportunities for local people."

As part of a wider £8m development Bents Garden & Home is creating an extra 5,000 sqm of retail space which will host a number of new units including a children’s boutique and the doubling in size of the pet care department, with plans for a groom room and pet café.

Managing director Matthew Bent said: "Arts and crafts is the top requested additional product category asked for by our customers."

C-Crafts aimed for 50 centres when launching in 2013.
