Some 2.6 billion visits are made to parks each year, which equates to 7.1 million visits per day, according to figures in the Heritage Lottery Fund report State of UK Public Parks. This means that 28.5 million visits were made to parks across the country over the four-day bank holiday weekend (3-6 April), the alliance calculated.
Parks give the community a place to share their Easter traditions, said alliance chairman Mark Camley. "Parks are playgrounds for community activities and give people a place to celebrate Easter together," he added.
"Parks are an investment in the nation's health and well-being because good-quality green spaces are crucial to increasing the number of people getting active, participating in sport, lowering stress and improving health."
