The event is on Tuesday (1 February) at the East of England Showground in Peterborough.
Among other talks, the NFU's Phil Hudson will discuss the plan published last October by Defra's Fruit & Vegetable Task Force.
The task force was set up in autumn 2009 by the Labour Government to identify ways of boosting the production and consumption of the UK's edible crops.
The plan strongly recommended that the national planning policy framework - now under review by the coalition Government - includes a statement expressing the important role that land plays in domestic food production.
Hudson told Grower: "Now is a crucial time to get this message across as the coalition has started to change the planning system."
Because the new framework will be more localist in its approach, Hudson said it would be more important to have a recognition of food production within it.
