Last year's display won the NFU its 12th consecutive gold medal at the show and was popular with visitors, including celebrities Dustin Hoffman and Sir Trevor McDonald.

At previous Chelsea Flower Shows the display has been supported financially by the NFU as well as additional sponsors, but this year's search for a sponsor has so far failed to bear fruit.

NFU horticultural adviser Chris Hartfield said: "This is a unique opportunity to sponsor one of most spectacular displays at the leading flower show in the world.

"Thousands of people visit the NFU display each year. The feedback is always very positive and the media coverage of the display reaches an audience of millions. The NFU has been promoting British produce at RHS flower shows for more than 60 years, and our displays have a long-standing reputation as spectacularly unique showcases of 100 per cent British produce, flowers and plants."

"It's a fantastic opportunity to highlight all that's great about British fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers and a wonderful chance for sponsors to reach a vast audience."
