Andy Coaten, currently MD of Fast Track Flowers, will take the helm in January at the £40 million-a-year company, which supplies most of the UK's supermarkets and garden centres.
Coaten replaces Jeff Hooper who was appointed as interim MD last summer.
Coaten began his career in sales with Lingarden Flowers, where he progressed over a nine-year period from national account manager, to procurement director, where he had responsibility for purchasing over £20 million of flowers He then became business unit director.
In 2000 he was appointed MD of England's Garden Plants, and then in 2005, he became MD of Fast Track Flowers, during which time he has taken the start-up business to £12 million, supplying British and seasonal flowers to Asda, Waitrose and Sainsbury.
Of his new role at Butters Group, Coaten says: "The potential to grow this business is there for everyone to see.
